The Problem With Vintage/Antiques is Sellers Know Idiots Will Pay Double Just Cause It's "Vintage"

So for a few years now, my mother and I have been lazily collecting 60's Italian coloured glass 'Genie Bottles'. I have three and i think Mum has about seven. It's not really so we can have a large collection, but for the fun of the chase and swapping stories of where we found them and how much. When we started the average price was $60, so when mum found one in a charity shop for $20 she bragged for months. But now as we seem to be having an influx of 50's 60's 70's revival. And obtaining retro items is 'cool', sellers have realised these retro enthusiast aren't really sure of actual worth, and stand by the logic of "if it's pricey then it's rare and i must have it". So now while i hunt for these glass bottles, Ive found the price has rocketed to $90, even $130 like i found on Gumtree.com.au this morning.

the bottle without the stopper is actually worth less than the bottle with the stopper... yet they're selling for the same price? and the green is the most common colour, yet it's more expensive than the amber? I would say the red is the rarest, ive never seen a red one (either that or it's not desirable)
Now whether or not that's what they're actually worth these days , if so it's only been the last 6 months Ive seen the price jump. I got one at Christmas and it was only $55. So my word of warning to all retro enthusiast out there, make sure you research what your selling. People will claim it's "rare" when it's really not.
